Swiss stone pine oil
or arolla pine oil, is obtained by distillation of needles and twigs of the arolla pine. It is easily soluble in alcohol and oil, but hardly soluble in water. The arolla pine grows mainly on higher ground in Alpine regions between 1800 and 2400 m. The tree grows very slowly and is rated as full-grown after about 200 years. Also the wood of the arolla pine is used for various furnishings.
