Lemongrass oil
is obtained by water steam distillation of lemongrass. The yield is about 0.5 %. The origin of the plant is in Sri Lanka and India, where it is still cultivated today. Other cultivation areas are in China, parts of Europe and Africa. One plantation can be harvested four times a year and has to be processed as of the replanting for eight years.
