Characteristics

COATI-PIGMENT works through a targeted, controlled flocculation of the pigments. There will be bridges between the built up of individual pigment particles, which leads to the formation of three-dimensional network structures. Through this controlled flocculation primarily prevents floating and settling. COATI-PIGMENT is particularly suitable for medium to highly polar paint systems to prevent titanium dioxide from floating out in combination with colored pigments, especially combinations with carbon black. COATI-PIGMENT also contains a small amount of special polysiloxane copolymers to control floating behavior even more effectively. This also prevents the formation of Bénard cells and improves surface smoothness, leveling and the orientation of matting agents and aluminum pigments. The use of silicone defoamers, which would otherwise be necessary, can be omitted in most cases.

Processing

The addition should be made at the start of production. Subsequent addition is possible, but COATI-PIGMENT must be worked in intensively.

Use during the production process

COATI-PIGMENT is optimally added to the dispersing / grinding batch, i.e. when the binder and liquids for the dispersing / grinding batch have been submitted, COATI-PIGMENT is added while stirring. Then the powdered components are added and dispersed / ground. Then the approach is completed with the remaining components of the recipe. After completion, the approach should rest (mature) for 24 hours so that the full effectiveness of the COATI-PIGMENT can unfold.

Use as a post-additive for subsequent incorporation

If COATI-PIGMENT is to be used as a post-additive, COATI-PIGMENT is added to the finished mixture while stirring and then 10 minutes at 18 - 22 m/sec. incorporated. After completion, the approach should rest (mature) for 24 hours so that the full effectiveness of the COATI-PIGMENT can unfold.

Storage recommendation

Stir well before use. Keep container in a cool, well-ventilated place. Occasionally, traces of water may be contained, which have no influence on the effectiveness of the product and the quality. In order to maintain the product quality, the original container should be closed again immediately after each removal. The described properties of COATI-PIGMENT are retained for at least 2 years if stored properly.
