Buriti oil
is extracted mechanically from the fruit flesh. It contains a high proportion of oleic and palmitic acid, which have good oxidation stability, as well as a high vitamin A and E content. It is traditionally used in the Amazon region for various cosmetic and medical purposes. Nowadays it is often used in sun creams due to its high carotene content.
